Live Music Lou’s Can’t Miss: September 3 – 9

Sunday (9/3) –

Island Escape Ultra Reggae Day Party

This exactly what you need on a long weekend.

WorldFest

Friday got rained out, but you still have a chance to enjoy good food, good music, and good weather.

Wednesday (9/6) –

EZTV, Beverly

These out-of-towners will be traveling to Lou from New York. You can expect a solid night of guitar jams from both bands.

Thursday (9/7) –

Garrison Keillor’s Prairie Home “Love and Comedy” Tour, Richard Dworsky & The Roadhounds, Aoife O’Donovan, Fred Newman

So many of our self proclaimed NPR nerdy friends are very excited. I mean I enjoy Prairie Home Companion (+ Chris Thile) so respect there.

Girl Talk

I didn’t realize Girl Talk was still a thing, but college me is so excited. Funky place with an even funkier DJ, Girl Talk, is hitting the stage at Headliners this Thursday. His music consists mainly of a collaboration of hit singles, of all different genres, mashed up into one. Good times, good mixes, and an overall good night, don’t miss this show!

Rozwell Kid

The West Virginia bros are prepared to satisfy your rock n’ roll thirst on this fine Thursday at Z.

Ed Sheeran with special guest James Blunt

Eddie’s surprise GOT spot was fun. I mean he’s been cut by like a royal blade and has a new album. Last time he came to Louisville I was there and got hushed by children. I think we are setting ourselves up for an interesting evening.

Friday (9/8) –

Freddie Fest

Celebrate Mr. Mercury. Local bands cover this legend at Zbar.

Sam Bush

This Kentucky man is always a fun effing time.

Hog Operation with Pennies & Roses

A little bluegrass + a Foxhollow Farm sunset = magic.

Jameron

Some local jams at Kaiju is always worth your while.

Vice Tricks, The Rocketz, The Silver Shine

Prepare for lots of instruments and energy coming from Headliners this Friday night.

Saved By The ’90s

Channel your inner Kelly Kapowski and come out to the Mercury Ballroom for a throwback to all things ’90s. Dress in theme and hear Saved By The ’90s sing all your favorite hits from one of the greatest eras in music!

DJ Cat Casual

I trust this man’s picks, for sure.

Saturday (9/9) –

The Mountain Goats with Samantha Crain

Last time they played Headliners we were there and unaware of what we were walking in to. This time, we are prepared and excited.

Free Soul Effect album release

We got lit and listened to this new album and we enjoyed the story. If you’ve ever been in a relationship, this album will speak to you at some point. Celebrate with these two awesome dudes!

The Louisville Orchestra 80th Season Preview

We don’t describe ourselves as boujee very often, but the Lou Orchestra brings it out of us.

Portland Art and Heritage Festival

Our Hike, Bike and Paddle (Bike) through Portland has us excited for this event. The hype is up.

Synapse

This event is described as “an overhead, delta-inducing light and sound experience designed to massage your mind” – sounds super intriguing.

Old Louisville Live: The Mike Tracy Brazilian Jazz Ensemble

I’m not entirely sure what Brazilian jazz is like, but I’m all about listening to some live music in Central Park.

Fall Schnitzelburg Walk

Drink your way through our hood.

Back To Cool Brewery Prom

You’re encouraged to dress up (hit those Goodwill racks or dig through your closet and 🙏 those ‘fits still fit) so you can get some Goodwood gift cards + swag.

If you haven’t heard about this new local festival, then you’ve been off of social media. We are really hyped about the Curio Key Club collaboration with some of Louisville’s finest.
