Live Music Lou’s Can’t Miss: Aug. 6 – 12

Sorry folks. Lolla knocked us on our asses. I hope you weren’t waiting on us, because this is another wonderful week of local music. The weather looks reasonable and there are plenty of indoor and outdoor options. PLUS it is the last week before school waaaaaah!

Sunday (8/6) –

Lyle Lovett and His Large BandΒ

This week is certainly starting off with a bang. Like damn, three pretty legendary voices for you to choose between. Lyle Lovett will be playing Iroquois.

James Taylor and His All-Star Band with special guest Bonnie Raitt & Her Band

Two fucking all-stars in one place. We will be traveling but I am certain this will be a night to remember.

Lady has pipes, that is without question. Be ready to TRY (key word try) to keep up singing to some of your favorites.

Butthole, Chico, Mosquito, Droneroom

Sunday night stuff, eh?

Longleash Piano Trio In-Studio

Piano goodness over lunch at the LPM studio? Sure, my Monday could probably use a little pick me up like this.

Tuesday (8/8) –

Jidenna

He is so smooth. Suave is literally the best descriptor you could come up with for Jidenna – he is well dressed, good looking and has some moves. I’m prepared to bat my eyelashes and act like I have a chance.

An evening of the music of Frank Zappa with Ugly Rebellion, ft. Ike Willis

Headliners host a couple of regional bands playing Frank Zappa tunes.

Durand Jones & The Indications, Curio Key Club

This IU grad with Louisiana roots is hitting the road, fittingly starting his tour in Indy and Louisville.

Melvins, with Spotlights

The Melvins last show in town had folks chattering.

Derby City Jazz Festival

The Jazz scene in Louisville has exploded in the last year. Churchill Downs plays host (a little weird maybe?) but I guess the two go together in bougi-ness?

Brooks Ritter with Andrew Hibbard

With loads of local options this week, if you haven’t been to Foxhollow Farm yet (like us) Brooks Ritter is always the right choice.

Live Music Friday with Steve Cooley & Friends

Bluegrass at Goodwood.

Nellie Pearl with Thirty Spokes

Two Lou favs at a Bardstown Road staple.

Nick Dittmeier and The Sawdusters with Falls City Drifters
