Live Music Lou’s Can’t Miss: July 31 – August 5

We are headed to Lollapalooza this weekend but don’t you worry… there are a boat load of options in town for you to choose from. As Aubrey inches closer to the beginning of the school year, look to see us out as much as possible, extending summer to the bitter end.

Sunday (7/30) –

Omni

I feel better about everything just listening to a few of Omni’s tracks. Should be the perfect way to kick off your week.

Tuesday (8/1) –

Jimmy Herring & The Invisible Whip

Don’t worry, the name of this band is not misleading at all – they really are just as cool as they sound. A mix of old school funk and modern day guitar solos is sure to please this crowd on Tuesday.

Wednesday (8/2) –

Young The Giant: Home of The Strange Tour with Cold War Kids and Joywave

We are heading north Thursday, but couldn’t leave before this doozie. YTG is always a good time (and on paper, has given some of our best festival photography), Cold War Kids has a new album to grace us with, and I don’t think we’ve seen Joywave. We got these tickets during the Live Nation promotion ($20 tix hellsyaaa) so we hope to see you!

Thursday (8/3) –

Whiskey Myers, with The Steel Woods

The Steel Woods are sure to get you warmed up for the main act and in your Lynyrd Skynrd feels and vibe to the sweet sounds of Cody Cannon and his band, Whiskey Myers.

Animal City, King Cheetah, David Dove

The perfect show for some Thursday night jams. Plus, King Cheetah is a compilation of badass local musicians? HELLS YES.

Friday (8/4) –

Glitteroke with Howell Dawdy: A Girls Rock Louisville Karaoke Party

This is everything. Support Girls Rock, a local initiative getting young people involved in making music, and spin Howell Dawdy’s infamous karaoke wheel. Take the stage, and let all of those fantasies of becoming the lead singer of a band with fans singing your lyrics back to you finally come true.

The Coathangers, Residuels

Can someone say female power? Rock out with this four person all-female band when they bring the house down on Friday night!

Nightvisions Radio 6 Year Anniversary Party with Geotic

Congrats on another year Nightvisions dudes! This Galaxie party was a good ass time last year. Also, we hear good things about Geotic. Will Wiesenfeld is a man of many different pseudnyms and this Friday he’s choosing to be his funky, beat-heavy self. He’s sure to keep you grooving all night.

Billy Ray Cyrus

Say whatttt? Put your boots on, and tease your hair up a bit. Who doesn’t want to see Miley’s dad sing “Achy Breaky Heart” to a crowd full of country loving fans?

Still Holler CD Release Show with Special Guest Mama Said

Need something new to listen to? Come hangout at Headliners and hear these string bands at their CD release party.

ReSurfaced with DJ Dwight Johnson

The Liberty Build is back. If you haven’t been, I highly recommend it. THERE IS A SOCCER FIELD INSIDE. Plus: music, art, food, drink, and games – the perfect Friday night.

Saturday (8/5) –

Leopold and His Fiction

This guy thooooo.

White Knight, New Bravado, Architecture Aviva

White Knight is traveling just down the road from Owensboro for a fun night of Kaiju rock n’ roll.

Mad Anthony, New Tongues

These hard rock mad men take the stage at The Cure Lounge this Saturday! Don’t miss a great show.

Bourbon & B-Sides

Ever wanted to go to a party in an art museum? Well now’s your chance for a unique Saturday night out. Louisville’s favorite beverage plus local artists ensuring this to the perfect plans for this weekend!
