Live Music Lou’s Can’t Miss: April 16 – 22

Saturday’s Thunder officially kicks off the best time of the year around here. Are we ready for Derby?? Thunder + Record Store Day are making for a big day. Oh and 4/20.

Monday (4/17) –

Monday Jazz with The Buzzard

Decca’s cellar turns into a jazz club. Mondays don’t suck.

McLovins

Their name is cool and they jam.

Tuesday (4/18) –

Welcome to Night Vale with musical guest Erin McKeown

The popular podcast is baaaack. I’m pretty sure this has sold out every time they’ve come to Louisville, so they must be doing something right.

Mike Posner with Adam Friedman

Mike Posner has been around for a minute, taking me back to college for sure, but has just recently blown up. I mean, “I Took a Bill in Ibiza” was nominated for a Grammy. Headliners should be near capacity even on a Tuesday.

Becca Stevens

A little jazz + folk + pop combo at Z? Count me in.

Wednesday (4/19) –

Tosh.Show on Campus

The comedian is doing a college tour this spring. Don’t miss out on seeing him at the Yum! Center.

Beer & Jazz

Jazz is so in. Also, Goodwood is in. They are killing it with weekly live music events. 👍👍👍👍👍

Slothrust

You’re going to find it difficult to not enjoy this blues-grunge band.

Cody Jinks, with Ward Davis and Colter Wall

They added a second evening because this show sold out so quickly! This Texas country man had a great 2016 with the release of I’m Not the Devil.

Thursday (4/20) –

Stand with Refugees Benefit Night

Tim Faulkner Gallery hosts this fundraiser for friends from all latitudes and longitudes.

Brandy & Bleus

With the official change in weather, Copper & Kings is taking advantage of their beautiful outdoor space. Be on the lookout for events there regularly. This one is cheese-centered, and therefore is a winning option.

Cody Jinks with Ward Davis

Night two with this bearded musician.

Jason Kahn, Tim Barnes, Margaret Morley

I think you’re going to need to experience Jason Kahn in person to truly understand.

Friday (4/21) –

Neil Diamond “50 Year Anniversary World Tour”

I mean, it’s Neil effing Diamond, people!

An Evening with Dawes

Okay, so we were super bummed when we missed them 2 years ago because of our cross-country road trip, so we are SO EXCITED they are returning to Lou!

Julianne and Derek Hough: Move – Beyond – Live On Tour

I expect that these siblings will be taking over the entire Palace stage.
