Live Music Lou’s Can’t Miss: November 6 – 12

With this HELLISH election season finally come to an end, we all will need some stuff to get our mind off of the results. Don’t fret, there are loads of options.

Sunday (11/6) –

Honus Honus, Pink Mexico

Man Man’s frontman Honus Honus is out on his own. Haymarket plays host to this Sunday night banger. The forthcoming album, USE YOUR DELUSION sounds exciting. Pre-order here and get some tight extra stuff.

Monday (11/7) –

Yeasayer, with Lydia Ainsworth & Night Visions DJs

Brooklyn and experimental rock just makes so much sense.

Machine Gun Kelly

The man can spit out some rhymes.

Band of Horses with Wild Belle

Congrats to Joann, our Band of Horses giveaway winner! We are ready for this show, big time.

American Aquarium, Justin Wells

Hopefully BJ Barham and crew are not still hurt about the recent U of L thumping of their beloved NC State, because Louisville will always welcome this group with open arms.

Tuesday (11/8) –

Go somewhere and throw a couple back while the votes are tallied, or find something else to do to take your mind away from this insanity. BUT GO VOTE FIRST!

Election night events are happening at Old Louisville Brewery, Hilltop Tavern, Louis’s The Ton, and Monkey Wrench…just to name a few!

Stoop Kids, Tsunami Samurai

Stoop Kids are a NOLA band with all kinds of flavor (so, punny.) No for real, there are so many elements to there music, Zbar better be ready. Opening are two of Louisville’s own.

Wednesday (11/9) –

Big Gigantic: Brighter Future Tour

Big Gigantic was a hit closing the Boom Stage at Forecastle this year. Mercury Ballroom is a great place for this electronic, sax-heavy duo.

Lettuce, with Michal Menert

Boston funk masters, Lettuce, are back again at Headliners. If you missed them a year ago, this is your chance!

Fear of Men w/ Weaves + See Tai

Kaiju’s back room may be tiny and grimey but the space is consistently playing host to some cool ass bands.

Todd Snider with special guest Rorey Carroll

Louisville loves this guy. The Bomhard Theater plays host to this magnificent, musical storyteller.

Karl Blau, Lake

We trust the Vectortone boys, so these multi-faceted musicians should make this Zanzabar show one not to miss.

Metro Station, Palaye Royale, The Strive

FLASH BACK. Metro Station is back. The New Vintage is hosting a meet and greet.

Thursday (11/10) –

Judah & The Lion, with The Greeting Committee

For some further insight on how cool these dudes are, read THIS!

The Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band & The Supersuckers

The Reverend and his big damn band knows how to please the Mercury crowd.

AJJ, Diners, Chris Farren

AJJ has a music video where it’s several dudes’ abs that are singing to us. I expect quite the show at Zbar.

Friday (11/11) –

An Evening with Styx

Britt’s fav childhood band is back at the Palace. If you’re looking for some discounted tickets, Groupon has a deal!

Humming House, Heather Bond

It’ll be difficult to not dance and hum along with this breath of fresh air Nashville quintet.

Jim James and Dave Eggers Discuss Creativity, Innovation, and Education

The amazing organization that got us here to Louisville, Teach Kentucky, is hosting this conversation with two visionaries. Dave Eggers headed a Donald Trump protest movement (3o Days, 50 Songs), in which Jim James took part with “Same Old Lies.” I have a feeling this discussion is going to be deep.

Vinyl Release Show – Nick Dittmeier & The Sawdusters, Joann + The Dakota

What better location than MagBar for this local vinyl release show? I would expect to see all of the bands’ loyal followers to be in attendance, so it should be a good time.

Andrew W.K. The Power of Partying

Don’t leave your earplugs at home for this one. So much power and energy.

Saturday (11/12) –

Louisville Music Festival featuring Keith Sweat, Mint Condition, K-Ci & JoJo

WAIT. K-Ci & JoJo are coming to the Yum! Center?! And Ginuwine?!

Wheeler Walker Jr., Birdcloud

Until recently, I didn’t know much about Wheeler Walker Jr. But I can’t think of a better headliner for Birdcloud, especially with the catchy ballad, “Fuck You Bitch.”

Vessel, with Captain Midnight Band, Restless Leg String Band, and Still Holler

Put on your dancing shoes and get ready to get folky with these extensively talented groups.
