Live Music Lou Weekly Preview: Seven Sense Festival with Low Cut Connie

So apparently the young (college) part of Louisville is a huge factor in the scene this weekend… THERE ARE SO MANY THINGS SATURDAY BECAUSE ALL THE KIDDIES ARE BACK. Beyond Flugtag and the Zombie Walk, our annual Seven Sense Festival experience is upon us. This festival supporting The Boys and Girls Haven is free to the public and also shows off one of our favorite parts of town…Preston Highway between Zbar and The New Vintage.

We talked to a Preston vet, Low Cut Connie, about coming back to Louisville, and also about that cheesy, carby anomaly that comes from Philly. You know. They are insanely fun and the perfect Seven Sense act. We’re gonna catch them tonight at 10 on the Larceny stage and we’re pumped (so are they…check out those ALLCAPS) – join us!!

Live Music Louisville: Louisville welcomes you back with open arms! What are some of your favorite cities to play in? What makes them a favorite?

Low Cut Connie: WE LOVE LOUISVILLE…IT’S ALWAYS A WILD TIME. DEFINITELY ONE OF OUR FAVORITES. CAN’T WAIT TO GET WEIRD THIS WEEKEND.

LML: As a band from Philadelphia, we need to know…the great cheesesteak debate…where do you get the best cheesesteak in town and what is the secret to making a dank rendition?

LCC: THE CHEESESTEAK IS A BIG FLOPPY SQUISHY MOP-LIKE SANDWICH AND YA GOTTA BE IN THE MOOD…BUT IF WE ARE IN THE MOOD, THEN IT’S GEORGE’S STEAKS IN THE ITALIAN MARKET. RING OUT THE SANDWICH INTO A GLASS, DRINK THE JUICE WHILE YOU MUNCH THE SANDWICH, THEN TAKE STOCK OF YOUR LIFE AND ALL THE CHOICES YOU HAVE MADE.

LML: It sounds like 2016 has been of a bit of a year of some changes for you all. As we fully commit to the second half of 2016, reflect on what this year has meant for you as a band as well as what 2017 is shaping up to look like.

LCC: IT’S BEEN A WILD RIDE BUT A GOOD ONE…THE BAND IS AS STRONG AS EVER SINCE THE LINE-UP CHANGE. WE PULLED TOGETHER AND JUST RECORDED A KILLER NEW ALBUM IN MEMPHIS…LOTTA SONGS WE CAN’T WAIT TO PLAY FOR ALL OUR PALS. WE ARE REALLY DIGGING DEEP AND CONNECTING WITH OUR FANS IN A DEEPER WAY AND IT IS A GREAT FEELING. 2017 WILL BE A CRAZY YEAR…LOTS OF SHOWS AND A LOT OF NEW MUSIC. STICK WITH US…YOU’LL SEE.

LML: We hear your live shows are ROWDY. What is part of your pre-show routine that gets everyone ready to go? (i.e. food, drink, inspiration, whatever)

LCC: I LIKE TO WATCH JAMES BROWN, PRINCE, TINA TURNER, AND MICHAEL JACKSON VIDEOS WHILE DRINKING PINEAPPLE JUICE, CRYING, AND CHANTING HEBREW.

LML: Who are you listening to these days? What artists from your part of the country must we check out when they come through town?

LCC: LISTENING TO A LOT OF EDDIE BO…CHECK IT OUT. FOR PHILLY ACTS…WE’RE GIGGING NEXT MONTH WITH THESE CRAZY GUYS CALLED SHY BOYZ…CHECK EM OUT.

We have a feeling that it is going to be terrific day. I mean, look at this lineup… great music back to back to back. So if the undead or disastrous flying objects are not your thing, then we encourage a stop by Seven Sense!
