Live Music Lou’s Can’t Miss: January 3 – 9

We’re back to school, and 2016 is set to get rolling with a celebration of the music scene linchpin, WFPK, and its 20th Anniversary in Louisville. We think it’ll be a rocking party at The Brown. Check social media for live updates of the shows we are at, and come back here for a review afterwards.

Thursday (1/7) –

The Mayor’s Music and Art Series with Quiet Hollers

This monthly lunch event with Mayor Greg Fischer always has us jealous. And with Quiet Hollers’ poignant melodies reverberating through Metro Hall, we’re fired up we won’t be there.

Chrome Pony

A pair of Nashville (originally Indiana) brothers, Tyler and Kyle Davis, kicks off the weekend of stellar stuff at Zanzabar with their multi-dimensional music.

Friday (1/8) –

7th Annual Jam For A Cure with Greg Foresman, Danny Flanigan, and John Mann with a special tribute to Tim Krekel

Who doesn’t love concerts with a cause? The night’s lineup will all be in support of National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

What is American Culture featuring William Harvey of Juilliard with Cher Von and Tyler Dippold

This 10 year old project began with Juilliard grad William Harvey and will include locals Cher Von and Tyler Dippold. The evening looks like it will be an eye opening experience, crossing cultural divides and promoting understanding.

The Cleveland vets, x_x, are back together and will most certainly bring their ambiguous (blank) rock to Zbar.

Saturday (1/9) –

91.9 WFPK 20th Anniversary Celebration Louisville All-Star Jam

Talk about an All-Star Jam! Some Louisville musicians (who all had big 2015s) are set to take the stage for this evening in support of everyone’s favorite, 91.9 WFPK. Wax Fang, Twin Limb, Ben Sollee, and members of Houndmouth are all Live Music Lou (and the greater community) favorites that will be something else on one single bill.
