In 2012, ROMP was one of the first real bonding experiences that Aubrey and I had together. We barely knew each other and spent 3 days camping in 106 degree weather, drinking far too much bourbon, parking cars while hungover, and most importantly listening to amazing music. We were so taken that we even joined their Street Team the last 2 years, and there have been many bands that we’ve religiously followed since the event, including Old Crow Medicine Show.
It’s been amazing being able to see Old Crow at different kinds of venues over the last few years: festivals, huge stadiums, and finally at the beautiful Louisville Palace on Friday night. The band treated us to a lot of the favorites (including my favorite “Methamphetamine“), with a few lesser known songs thrown in there, too. What I love about the Palace is that there’s some dancing space at your seat, but it’s also not frowned upon to run up and down the aisle to snap a quick close-up and rock out to your favorites. It helps when you have an amazing band like OCMS performing for you, especially when Dom Flemons joins them at the end of the show. I’d be perfectly okay if they continue this habit of coming to Louisville once per year – let’s keep it up, fellas!
