In honor of my quarter life crisis, Brittany and I planned a week full of concerts and other events. The first of the week long celebration was Ok Go at Headliners. (N.B.: we had already bought tickets and then I won a couple more from @getoutlouisville so more friends were able to join us.) We hadn’t been to Headliners in what felt like a while and besides my “Birthday” Spotify playlist, I hadn’t listened to Ok Go since the amazing treadmill performance of “Here it Goes Again.” My general expectation for a Headliners show is fairly minimalistic in the best way possible- small venue, raw music and presentation, making for an intimate show. That being said, my experience Tuesday night was the complete opposite and an outstanding start to this birthday extravaganza. From the very beginning the entire crowd, which was near capacity, was drawn in with technology and just pure energy. It was a “school night” so we had originally talked about sneaking out early to get to bed, but a few songs in and we knew that wasn’t going to happen. The confetti was great fun but it was the true and honest interaction with the crowd that made the night for me. My intrigue in Ok Go has been reignited- I’ll definitely be purchasing their upcoming album Hungry Ghosts– and would recommend checking out their live show to anyone who has the opportunity.
