Wooooo baby! Another first this weekend: Bonnaroo. Plenty going on in town, of course, but if you’re headed to the farm with us, give a heyoooo!
Sunday (6/4) –
Join JP Source at Big Bar for this monthly summer event!
Negroni Week Louisville Kick Off!
Louisville is apparently celebrating this gin cocktail at over 20 locations this week, starting off with free pizza and Sam Sneed spins at Galaxie. Check out this event all week, including a Passport thing that gets you more free stuff!
As The Leo pointed out, Jake Shears was probably behind you at P&T or some other local establishment. The Scissor Sisters front man has been in Louisville for a bit and is kicking off his solo experience here, too! This is a big deal, you all.
G.A.B. Productions The Summer Jazz and R&B Series Candy Dulfer and The Rippingtons
Sunday night jazz/R&B at Iroquois seems idyllic. I hope the cicadas aren’t too loud.
Tuesday (6/6) –
Pallbearer, Inter Arma, Gatecreeper
We recently learned there are different types of metal bands. Time to explore these differences perhaps?
Old Forrester Speakeasy Series: Bourbon Affair
This is a classy affair at the Frazier Museum. Billy Goat Strut Revue will be playing some tunes and for certain, the bourbon will be flowing. (Side note: there are other events all over town this week, so if this is your swag, go check em out!)
4th Annual Prince Birthday Bash
Purple sheet cake, Prince on vinyl, a rosé toast – Meta, I’m in.
Wednesday (6/7) –
Trap Soul Series Present Bryson Tiller
This pop up show had everyone confused after his KFC Yum! Center show announced last week. Even so, it sold out in a night and we’re lucky enough to have snagged some tickets.
Little jammy, little rocky…
Thursday – Sunday (6/8 – 6/11) –
Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival
After spending some time digging into this lineup, it is going to be a special weekend. Be on the lookout for a preview/playlist later this week!
Thursday (6/8) –
This New Zealand brother/sister duo have a couple of albums under their belt, both of which were massively successful in NZ. They are gradually gaining that same following here in the states.
LIT-RALLY everyone is talking about Car Seat Headrest. Besides hitting the festival scene pretty hard this summer, their latest album was on damn near everyone’s best of 2016 list.
HUNNY is a 6-piece Cali band with a fresh new album.
With no true full length album to his name, this manboy still is a musical heartthrob.
Because everyone needs to experience some experimental music from time to time.
Twilight Thursday: Teacher Appreciation Day
Kyle Meredith has been curating the music for Twilight Thursdays at the track, and this teacher is appreciative.
Friday (6/9) –
Mom and Dad, Twenty First Century Fox, Karen Meat & The Computer
I feel a little embarrassed to say we still haven’t been to a show at Monnik’s upstairs loft. Soooooo, let’s make it a date, you all!
We hear that this DJ/producer is pretty much a creative genius.
Frederick the Younger with Alanna Fugate
Foxhollow summer sunsets are everything that is right with the world.
DJ Cat Casual’s Exploding Friday Inevitable
The name of this biweekly event is enough to draw some intrigue, ya know?
Bicentennial Park Summer Concert Series: Mountain Deer Revival
Last time I checked, the weather is supposed to cool down for the end of the week. Perfect for a night out near the water.
Lady Legs, Doctor Girlfriend, Soft Self Portraits, White Knight
Enjoy some super chill garage rock in the depths of Kaiju’s back room.
Live Music Friday with Tim Delonjay
Tim’s got the soothing singer-songwriter vibe happening, but he’ll also get you with some deep lyrics.
Saturday (6/10) –
Joan Shelley, with Jake Xerxes Fussell
Joan Shelley’s angelic folk magic is getting noticed around the country. (Side story: one of her songs was playing before KT Tunstall’s Live Lunch set a couple of months back and she commented on how beautiful it was! AGREED KT!) Her music is intimate, emotive and thoughtful… it digs right into your soul. Plus, Jeff Tweedy produced this new album.
TLRS: Matt Townsend & Living Dog
Dusty is the best and his shows/food/vibes never disappoint.
Lots of talented folksy singers out tonight.
