Live Music Lou’s Can’t Miss: December 25 – January 1

Since we will likely be feeling it next Sunday, weve included the 1st on this week’s Can’t Miss. There are so many quality options for New Year’s Eve, so let’s send 2016 out with a representative shit show. See you in 2017!

Sunday (12/25) –

Kaiju Christmas

There are limited spots open tonight, but one of our neighborhood go-to’s wins our vote. If you’ve had enough family time, hit up Kaiju for late night, cheap drinks.

Monday (12/26) –

A Battle of Kings: Elvis vs. Michael Jackson, A Dance Party Event For Strive

The list of artists taking part in this year’s Strive benefit (remember the Beck/Justin Timberlake) is impressive. Local names ranging from Cat Casual, to Carly Johnson, to Cheyenne Mize to 1200 will all take the stage together.

Thursday (12/29) –

Minnesota

Originally from MN, Christian Bauhofer has blown up on the West Coast EDM scene. His live shows are known to get you moving. We are still off of school, so this is hard to pass up!

Steely Danish – A Cover Up Concert with Bloo Zoo

This is pretty much what you think it will be…

Friday (12/30) –

Voodoo Economics, BOA, Falls City Drifters

Louisville’s Voodoo Economics are celebrating the release of their EP at Zanzabar.

Tajy & Friends, “Westside Story” Release Show Featuring Dave

We are bringing back the Lit Listen for this one. Celebrate Dope Dream Tajy’s new project with other local voices and just some general positivity.

Saturday (12/31) –

Let’s kick 2016’s ass. It has been the worst.

Lou Years Eve

If you’re bringing the family out with you, this inaugural event will be perfect.

New Year’s Even 2017 with Tony  & The Tan Lines, DJ K-Dogg

We’ve heard glorious things about this all inclusive event at Mellwood. It is impossible not to have fun with Tony & The Tan Lines, plus unlimited food and booze. Doi.

2016, Ya Fired! (for the Kentucky ACLU)

If you need a lower key deal and are interested in a free bourbon toast, The Silver Dollar is your go to. JP Source will be delivering the music for the evening, and proceeds will benefit the American Civil Liberties Union of Kentucky.

New Year’s Eve at The Ton

Some of 2016’s hottest Louisville artists are on this bill. The Ton has developed a following and considering these good times are free, we bet it will be packed!

Tiki Surf Party on New Year’s Eve, Featuring Jaxon Lee Swain and Inertia

Headliners certainly knows how to host a party.

Fuck 2016! NYE with Glittertitz, Reaper Radio, Brenda DJs, and More!

I think most people agree with this sentiment. The White Reaper dudes and Brenda peeps will provide the soundtrack, plus the famous Glittertitz experience, it’ll be lit. (GET IT, THE FIRE? LOL)

Blackberry Smoke- Like An Arrow Tour

The Palace hosts this Forecastle alum. Welcoming in the New Year at the stunning Palace is sure to bring good luck in 2017.

NYE 2016 at Galaxie – Silent Disco

$3 champagne, no cover, and a silent disco. Plus the usuals… spicy margs and wakatakas.

Ceci n’est pas New Years

This Coat Check event looks solid. We haven’t seen Discount Guns or Bonez in a minute, and Sam Sneed always provides the tunes we need, so this will be a winning choice for sure.

Sunday (1/1) –

If New Years Day isn’t synonymous with brunch, then you are doing it wrong. Hit one of the multiple delish brunch spots, many of which are openly promoting wearing your pajamas. Perfection.
