Sunday (12/11) –
Just a couple of guys with a couple of acoustic guitars to send you off for the week.
Tuesday (12/13) –
WFPK has been playing the heck out of Shawn Colvin the last few weeks in preparation for her evening show at KCD Theater, and for good cause. This singer songwriter’s rap sheet is incredibly extensive.
Wednesday (12/14) –
WFPK Winter Wednesday with Muddy Magnolias and LOLO
WOMEN RUN THIS NIGHT. YES. Jessy Wilson and Kallie North are two Nashville artists taking over. With ties to John Legend and Gary Clark, Jr., I trust the Muddy Mangolias are tight. LOLO is another female musician and based off of her latest album title, In Loving Memory of When I Gave a S**t, I know we’re gonna like her.
Thursday (12/15) –
Ms. Lauryn Hill The MLH Caravan: A Diaspora Calling! Concert Series with Soul Rebels
It appears the whole city is set up for this reschedule. With not much else going on this night, it only makes sense to head to the Palace for one of the bests that has ever done it. Ms. Lauryn Hill comes off as a primadonna to some, but to us it is just because she is perfection. If you’re there to hear the Miseducation, be prepared for something completely aurally different.
Friday (12/16) –
Tristen Brooke, PsychoHawk, Brother Wolves
Rumor has it Ron Whitehead will be there to get the night going. And if you’ve never seen Tristen Brooke on the acoustic guitar…let’s just say my head is spinning from watching how fast her hands fly.
These two country boys are looking to steal your hearts.
Quiet Hollers have been out of town for a couple of months, and are celebrating their valient return and Forecastle lineup announcement with a good ol fashioned holiday party. The evening is in support of a good cause, so bring your canned goods and lets party.
You may know him as one of the owners of Lydia House (which reminds me – how have we STILL not tried their ramen?!), but tonight J White’s putting on quite the event at Haymarket. A tarot reading kicks off the night, then J White will rap from his debut album, and a late night DJ dance party will wrap things up.
It has been awhile since we’ve stopped by Decca’s basement. The “grown-up” bar/restaurant is jumping on the dance party bandwagon. Narwhal and JP Source will be working it.
Saturday (12/17) –
The Weepies – Completely Acoustic and Alone
The Weepies have been a singer songwriter acoustic favorite for a minute now. Britt listened to them via One Tree Hill and Aub got her fix via Grey’s Anatomy. The rest is history. Now, we’re excited to see the duo in person.
He’s baaaaaaaack.
