With the actual “holiday” falling on a Monday this year, many venues are hosting their Halloween events a few days early. I hope you have your plans set and costumes in order! Plus, there are a few big time local events with the 2016 LMA’s, Twin Limb’s album release, and cover shows galore.
Sunday (10/23) –
Two favorites from our younger days in one night? Winner.
Monday (10/24) –
Dean Ween Group, with The Meat Puppets
I think there are a lot of people pretty excited to see one half of Ween, even for a Monday.
Monday Night Frights at The Ton: Poltergeist, Insidious, The Conjouring
Get over your Monday blues with some reliably good cocktails and Halloween movies.
Tuesday (10/25) –
PechaKucha Night to discuss race, ethnicity and culture
The PechaKucha format originated in Tokyo and involves speakers using 20 slides with 20 seconds on each slide to speak about a particular topic. The focus on this event is so relevant and a great conversation starter. Check it out.
Wednesday (10/26) –
Live instrumental electronic band, STS9 will light up Mercury Ballroom.
KMAC Music Series: Helado Negro
We saw Helado Negro when he christened Galaxie’s outerSPACE. I hope he brings his tinsel friends again.
This Austin-based song man has a new album, Never Understood, and a sound that definitely has me interested to see things live.
Thursday (10/27) –
The votes have been placed, now let’s see who wins! We haven’t heard if there will be any live performances, but the artists up for the awards are enough for me.
We enjoy all three of these things, so this sounds nice.
Friday (10/28) –
Twin Limb Release Show with James Lindsey and Teach Me Equals
Let’s kick of Twin Limb’s huge fall lineup and celebrate their new album the best way we know how… with a party at Headliners. This is Twin Limb’s first full length album and they are heading out on the road with Jim James.
A night of covers from your favorite local bands. DIG IT.
– VILLE COMMUNICATION: members of BRENDA, Jaxon Swain, Cat Casual, and others recreate the music of THE BEASTIE BOYS
– Twenty First Century Fox as The B-52s
– Voodoo Economics as The White Stripes.
ReSurfaced + Howell Dawdy’s Hoot & Holler Karaoke
Let your voice ring through the Smoketown neighborhood.
Coat Check Halloween Eve-Eve-Eve Costume Bash Off
Turner’s has been closed for the season, so Coat Check has been moved to Galaxie. Your favorite DJ’s will be spinning. Get dressed up and get weird.
Saturday (10/29) –
Aaron Lee Tasjan, Brian Wright
East Nashville guitar aficionado, meet Zanzabar.
Tony and The Tanlines Thriller
Louisville’s favorite cover band will play the ultimate Halloween album. Get ready to DANCE.
Costume contests, guest DJs, three cover sets and no cover. Oh, and Michter’s Distillery and Rhinegeist are presenting.
Mercury Ballroom is hosting this fundraising event. We know that V-Groove will provide the tunes, and there will be White Castle at midnight but other than that, the night is a mystery.
ReSurfaced’s Fried Chicken Throwdown
Fried Chicken is life.
