Live Music Lou’s Can’t Miss: July 31 – August 6

Even though we are getting back into the school year groove this week, our social calendar appears to still be in summer mode. No complaints there. Join us out and check back here for photos or reviews!

 Sunday (7/31) –

Yip Deceiver, Ed Monk, Soft Self Portraits

Sundays at Zbar are proving to be the hot thing to do. Tonight, former of Montreal members Davey + Dobby take over with their project Yip Deceiver to wrap up the weekend and the month.

Monday (8/1) –

Kites and Classical

Pretty much what it sounds like. Check out the sunset over the river (always picture-worthy) and make/fly kites to the sounds of WUOL.

The Palmer Squares, Phorensicz, Daw$on

Chicago hip-hop duo The Palmer Squares are in the middle of their summer tour. Planet of the Shapes, released in May of this year, hit the tops of Bandcamp hip-hop charts – get out and enjoy.

Tuesday (8/2) –

Ray LaMontagne

I don’t know if you’ve heard, but your hometown homies, MMJ will be the backing band for Ray. I think there may be a few more tickets available for this Palace show, but nab them quickly as I’m sure it will sell out by Tuesday.

Wednesday (8/3) –

Lake Street Dive, Aoife O’Donovan

Two Wednesdays in a row we’ve had excellent shows. You won’t want to miss a single second of either act.

Thursday (8/4) –

The Mayor’s Music and Arts Series with A Seven Sense Festival Preview Featuring The Cut Family Foundation

If you’re able to spend your lunch break downtown at Louisville Metro Hall, we’re jealous of you.

Anders Osborne, Oliver John-Rodgers

We were pretty stoked when we got the Headliners email announcing Anders Osborne. Don’t worry about the fact that this is the  ? th night in a row you’ve gone out to a show – we’re on the same page and it’s glorious.

Beats & Eats: “Nochevieja En August,” Berchules, Spain New Year

YUM.

Friday (8/5)  –

NuLu Hits the High Notes – Passport Party

Pick up a passport early and get it stamped at the 6 locations for the chance to win some swag while celebrating KY Opera’s 65th anniversary.

Woods, Cian Nugent

It’s difficult to resist Jeremy Earl’s falsetto.

The Naked Magic Show

You know you’re intrigued. Plus you can win tickets from Do502.

Fly Golden Eagle, Graffiti

The Nashville dudes of Fly Golden Eagle have been to town a couple of times in the past year or so but for festivals. Catching a full, New Vintage set will be tight.

Saturday (8/6) –

Neon River Music Festival

If EDM  is your thing, then this should be fun. Honestly, none of the names on this bill ring a bell but dancing is always a winner.

Umphrey’s McGee, The Main Squeeze

Umphrey’s McGee is back at the Iroquois Amphitheater. UM’s light performance and fun, upbeat jamming are hard to beat.

Bob Schneider

This is a reschedule from earlier this year and we’re glad that Bob Schneider is back to make up for that missed date.

Inner Space Album Release Show

Eons D and Jordan Jetson are celebrating and sharing their latest collaboration at Galaxie’s outerSPACE. Special guests have been promised.
