We’re rounding up the first semester and 2015 year with a lovely last couple of weeks. We intend to take full advantage of the waning days of December, so join us! And check back here for photos and reviews of the shows we attend!
Monday (12/14) –
Jaye Jayle, Pale Dian, Thousand Faces
Young Widows front man Evan Patterson has amassed a lot of positive feedback under the name of Jaye Jayle. His latest project has a very different style of music – a little freaky-deaky – and Louisville definitely needs to check it out.
Tuesday (12/15) –
Defining Five + Haymarket Happy Hour with Amelia Stevens, Jason Lee G, Andrew Rinehart and Nick B
This new series (now on round 3) has been an ingenious happy hour addition to Haymarket’s regular lineup. Thus far, some of the city’s best known names in the music industry have shared with us some pretty personal information – songs most meaningful to them. This week should be no different, and we know for sure that Amelia will have some cool trap shit for us. (Check out the previous rounds’ playlists below)
Defining Five 001: Sam Sneed, Jonathan Glen Wood, Twin Limb and Jalin Roze
Defining Five 002: Shadwick Wilde, Sam Filiatreau, Guestroom Records and Jecorey Arthur
Wednesday (12/16) –
Louisville Music Holiday Party: The Instruction, Frederick the Younger
The New Vintage is hosting an evening of music for the people who are part of the industry here in town.
Thursday (12/17) –
5th Annual Give-A-Jam to End Homelessness
This all-star lineup is seriously packed (look below!). And proceeds are going to a great cause. I mean, why not head to the Clifton Center? There will be several stews available as well as an auction.
Ciao, Jigg: A going away/fundraiser party with DJ Out Here, Jalin Roze, Big & Tall, and more
It sounds like someone is going abroad and is trying to raise some funds for their adventure. Having been in those shoes before, touche dude.
Friday (12/18) –
SCHOOL’S OUT FOR CHRISTMAS BREAK!!!! Sorry, we’re just pretty excited, and this Friday night has plenty of options available to us to celebrate.
Pokey LaFarge with Margo Price
Pokey LaFarge is a favorite here in town – with each visit to town, his crowds seem to grow. His music and style speaks to a time much before now, but it still translates well. We always find ourselves grooving along with him.
Speedy Ortiz just was announced as a Forecastle artist – a second try after they had to cancel late at last year’s festival. You can get an up close show before that, however, at The New Vintage.
Saturday (12/19) –
El Roostars Reunion Show with special guest The Tunesmiths
Who doesn’t love a reunion?
TLRS: The XL Xmas Xtravaganza!
The Living Room Series is hosting quite the Christmas party this Saturday including rhymes by The Bourbon Gingers, ugly sweaters, eggnog, gift exchange and a “whole freaking turkey.” I’m into it.
