It’s been a quiet week, almost a full seven days since a show. That hasn’t happened since…August? Weird. But while we were laying low on the concert-going front, we did score some tickets to upcoming shows that we’re really excited about!
December: Aubrey was the lucky caller this week when Duke gave away Glass Animals tickets for Headliners on Tuesday the 2nd. We’ll be seeing Trampled by Turtles at the Brown Theater on the 20th. And I will be soloing Jason Isbell with Shovels & Rope at the Palace on New Years Eve. Still considering Hard Working Americans on the 14th and Jalin Roze on the 19th, both at Headliners, as well as The Pass (12/6) and The Whigs (12/12), both at Zanzabar.
January: It looks like a pretty low-key start to 2015 so far. We’ve had Ben Folds & Louisville Orchestra tickets for Jan. 31 for months now, but I think that’s the only thing on our calendar. Recently announced Lucero at Headliners on the 15th and 16th, as well as Civil Twilight on the 9th both have loads of potential. I’m also seriously considering Strand of Oaks at Zanzabar on the 19th, and Sturgill Simpson at Mercury on the 30th.
February: Cold War Kids will kick us off on the 3rd at Mercury Ballroom (loved them at Shaky Knees), followed by Jukebox the Ghost at Headliners on the 12th. A big one that I just invested in today is Punch Brothers at the Ryman in Nashville on the 27th. It will be our first time at the Ryman, and I’m really excited to see Chris Thile again in all of his wonderfulness. I just saw that The Apache Relay will be at Zanzabar on the 14th, too, so I’m feeling pretty certain we’ll be in attendance, considering their performance at April 2014’s Waterfront Wednesday. What better way to spend Valentine’s Day?!
Post-February: SO EXCITED for The Lone Bellow again at Headliners on March 7th. I can’t get enough of seeing them live. WFPK can’t get enough of their new music, though, either because they’ve been nonstop playing “Then Came the Morning.” We’ve also been hearing about this Hilltopp Festival in Bowling Green and I’m curious to know more details. May brings with it Shaky Knees in Atlanta, quickly followed by Milky Chance at Headliners (thank you, thank you, thank you, WFPK!). And then ROMP in June. Forecastle in July. The more I type, the more excited I get about all of these amazing acts that are coming up.
Look for us and say hi if you’re coming to any of these shows!
